A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was struggling with writing an article about why people either loved or hated Notre Dame, how there was no in between. My editor showed the article to another reporter in our department and he had some great ideas that made the article read so much better than what I had. He saw angles that I just didn't. That is the benefit of working with your peers. They are in the trenches with you. They are dealing with the same issues and challenges you are. As much as we like to think we are all snowflakes, there is a lot of commonality in what we go through in our daily lives. Many in the industry have formed benchmark groups to provide that exact kind of advice and support to one another.
